HDABOB's Tech Notes:

Do you ever wonder how the Traction Control (V S A) system works?

Let me explain it to you...

The components of the Traction Control system consist of:

Speed Sensors

Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA)- modulator Unit

(VSA) Indicator light

Antilock Brake system (ABS) Indicator light

Brake System Indicator

The traction control or Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) system attempts to stabilize the vehicle in the event of a loss of traction or wheel slippage. The slippage may be caused by spinning the wheels in the snow, but the system is designed to stop a spinout on a slippery curve taken at an excessive speed. The VSA applies the brakes on the wheel that is spinning and reduces power output to the other wheels. Anytime there is a loss of traction on any wheel, the ABS, VSA, or Brake system indicators will come on. Anytime an indicator is on, that system is NONFUNCTIONAL. Coming to a complete stop, turning off the key and restarting will reset the indicator lights.

And that's the way the traction control works!
